Cynthia P. Helfrich (“Cyndi”) earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Indiana University School of Law (Indianapolis Campus) in 1998. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) In History and Political Science at Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis in 1994. Cyndi is intentionally a “generalist” in her practice, with substantial experience in a variety of practice areas, including criminal defense, family law, small business law, banking law, estates and trusts, and civil and probate litigation.
In the area of family law, Cyndi handles cases from every angle, in divorces, paternity matters, adoptions and guardianships. Since the outset of her career, she has represented parents and family members, advocating for them in and out of the courtroom. She has also served the interests of children and other protected individuals, advocating not for the agenda of a party, but for the best interests of those who cannot speak for themselves.
More recently, Cyndi has turned her focus toward family law mediation. She completed a 40 hour basic mediation course, in family law, in 2011, and has continued to attend annual mediation training and meetings of the Indiana Association of Mediators. Cyndi’s passion from mediation comes from the belief that families are better off when they can find opportunities for agreement, instead of continuing to feed the problems and conflicts that first brought them into court.
In her free time, Cyndi loves to reading, travel, cooking, board games, spending time with family and exploring the world online with Google Earth.
